Dear Parent/Guardian,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in this term and we would especially like to thank the Parents Council whose contribution is so very important and welcome.
This has been a very busy term and we have had many very successful events , too many to recount here, but just to remind you:---
Our Tsunami Appeal - "Buy a Boat" for the fishermen in Sri Lanka. To date we have collected 2,540. We would like to thank Mary Neville who donated a beautiful painting which we raffled amongst the staff and made 440. We hope to raise the final 460 next term.
Our Book Fair was a huge success. We raised 3700 and managed to replenish our class libraries with 2220 of new books.
Our Easter Raffle: - to date has raised . Please return sold and unused cards to the teacher. Raffle will take place on Tuesday 22nd, in the school. Good Luck!
Congratulations to our 6th class pupils who all received their places in Secondary Schools. Well done!
Congratulations to the children in 2nd classes who celebrated the Sacrament of Penance on Thursday March 10th. Thanks to all who attended and especially to Fr. Hanley, Fr O'Connell and Fr. Irwin. The children will be celebrating their First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 14th at 11.00am.
Now that the swimming programme has ended, we hope that the fine weather will coax more hurlers to train and prepare for the Primary School Hurling League. Training has already begun. This year we have entered our U-10's and our U-13's. Soccer training and preparation for the Sport's Day in U.L will commence after Easter.
Our Visual Arts Programme has been greatly enhanced by our visits to the Hunt Museum. 6th class visited the William Butler Yeats exhibition, 5th classes toured the galleries and other classes hope to do workshops there next term.
Our trips to the Limerick Library, the Granary, are very rewarding and the children really look forward to them. This term our 3rd class went to hear the author Tony Hickey and were very excited by the visit. The school librarian has invited our 6th class to participate in a new reading programme. Each child will review a book, by a less well-known author and will then write a review and present it in the Granary next term. We are very proud to have been selected and we are sure that our pupils will do a great job.
"Seachtain na Gaeilge" has just ended and was a great success. We all made an effort to speak an extra "cupla focal". Juniors, Seniors, 1st, 2nd and 3rd staged a lovely concert "as Gaeilge" in the hall. Congratulations to our prizewinners throughout the school. Senior classes will have a "Spraoicheist " hosted by Gael Linn in April.
"Tree Week" - We decided that this year our Junior Infants should plant a tree and every year we hope they will measure it's growth and mind it. They planted a holly tree through "Treasure the Holly" project.
You are welcome to come in and view our latest exhibition
- Nest-Building- by pupils in 1st class. -------a few reminders at the back of the page!
